Incursion Overview

In this adventure-style author–artist incursion, Stage 2 students become “Curious Explorer Artists,” working in small treasure-hunt teams inspired by What Should We Do Now? from The Curious Adventures of Parker the Dog series. Guided by author and illustrator Elaine Butler, students solve a series of art-based clues and creative challenges to unlock materials and progress through the session.
As they explore, students create a Parker the Dog–inspired 3D artwork and design a custom treasure map game that reflects their discoveries, decisions, and imaginative thinking. The incursion blends visual artmaking, storytelling, collaboration, and problem-solving, giving students a playful insight into how stories, images, and games can work together.
This hands-on experience supports visual literacy and creative thinking while connecting students with a real author–illustrator and the books that inspired the adventure.

This workshop is part of our Primary School Creative Arts Incursions, designed for NSW schools and aligned with the Creative Arts syllabus.
